The event will be organized under the aegis of the Faculty of International Business and Economics, in partnership with the Romanian Association for Quality Language Services QUEST Romania, celebrating its 30<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-very-dark-gray-color has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\">Academic Partners include Universit\u00e9 d&#8217;Artois, University of Zaragoza, Universit\u00e9 Aix-Marseille, Siksha \u2018O\u2019 Anusandhan University (SOA), Hiroshima University, Institute of Romanian Philology \u201cBogdan Petriceicu-Hasdeu\u201d, Moldova State University, \u201cOvidius\u201d University of Constanta, PROSPER-ASE Language Centre, and The Romanian Society for English and American Studies (RSEAS), a member of The European Society for the Study of English (ESSE), Romanian Association for American Studies (RAAS). <strong><em>SiC 2026<\/em><\/strong> will also build on academic networking with European project partners within the framework of our Erasmus+ co-operation programmes.  <br><br>The conference is organized around <strong>7<\/strong> <strong>thematic areas: <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-left\"><br>SECTION 1: SYNERGIES IN LINGUISTICS, BUSINESS AND (INTER)CULTURAL COMMUNICATION.<br>(ONLINE)<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-very-dark-gray-color has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\">Communication is a synergistic field where effectiveness is given by knowledge from diverse domains and by the ability to align best practice with the increasingly rapid pace of the world today. Moreover, today, universities face the challenge of meeting their dual role as institutions of culture and higher education as well as providers of knowledgeable, flexible, autonomous and self-determined graduates for the labour market. THE QUALITY DIMENSION. (HYBRID)<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-very-dark-gray-color has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\">This section provides an interdisciplinary forum for specialists in various fields to share expertise and to reflect together on ways forward, in the current academic context, with all its challenges and opportunities. This section will be organised in partnership with our Department\u2019s Erasmus+ Projects, the University of Zaragoza, the Doctoral School of Philology at <a>\u201cOvidius\u201d University of Constan\u021ba<\/a>, and the Romanian Association for Quality Language Services QUEST Romania, celebrating its 30<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary. Possible topics include (but are not restricted to):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-very-dark-gray-color has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Academic literacy development \u2013 case studies from different national and international contexts;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>New developments in communication, study, teaching, assessment, and professional development in the digital era;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Quality related aspects in the new educational and research environment &#8211; drawing inspiration from the International Association <strong>Eaquals<\/strong> &#8211; Evaluation and Accreditation of Quality in Language Services;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>New perspectives on academic networking and research dissemination, building on the expertise of <strong>QUEST<\/strong> Members, as well as on project outcomes, e.g. \u201cDILAN\u201d &#8211; (<em>Digital Language and Communication Training for EU Scientists<\/em>), Blended Intensive Programmes, national and international networking.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-very-light-gray-background-color has-text-color has-background wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"color:#003ca3\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <strong>E<\/strong><strong>mail: <a href=\"mailto:sic.section2@gmail.com\">sic.section2@gmail.com<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-left\">SECTION 3: ROMANIAN CULTURAL AND LINGUISTIC STUDIES<br>(ONLINE)<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\"><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-very-dark-gray-color has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\">Romanian academia play an important role in building bridges between values, traditions and representations attached to Romania and to other cultural areas &#8211; in Europe or worldwide. We propose to focus on the presence of Romanian culture in other countries, to strengthening connections between Romania and other cultures, to the teaching of Romanian culture and language to foreigners in Romania and abroad, with a view to using such cultural and linguistic knowledge in a multicultural context. Papers are invited on, but not limited to topics such as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Romanian cultural studies \u2013 literary, translation,\nsocio-linguistic, pragmatic studies;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Teaching Romanian as a foreign language \u2013\ntheory and practice;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enhancing Romanian and foreign students\u2019\nawareness of each other\u2019s cultures, as a prerequisite for academic and\nprofessional mobility, as well as social and cultural inclusion.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-very-light-gray-background-color has-text-color has-background wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"color:#003ca3\"><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;\nEmail<\/strong><strong>:\n<a href=\"mailto:sic.section3@gmail.com\">sic.section3@gmail.com<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">SECTION 4: EAST MEETS WEST ACROSS BRODERS AND BOUNDARIES (HYBRID)<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-very-dark-gray-color has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\">Over the last years,\u00a0there has been a burgeoning debate about the Eastern multicultural space, ranging\u00a0from Eastern Europe, Middle East and South Asian countries to the Far East, which has been intrinsically coupled with significant cultural and economic dynamism; however, such diverse and multi-layered areas have also been the subject of all sorts of misrepresentations and misinterpretations.\u00a0Future trajectory of the Eastern mind-set might provide a basis for the emergence of new civilizations in this new century and new millennium.\u00a0This section attempts\u00a0to explore the\u00a0outcomes\u00a0of the various encounters between Eastern and Western cultural conventions in relation to literature, arts, social sciences, media studies and other fields,\u00a0by carefully\u00a0examining the observations and insights\u00a0provided by scholars,\u00a0as well as by increasing our own cultural awareness. How do we perceive ourselves? How do we perceive others? What makes us act in a certain way? How do we relate to the people around us or to the context in which we live? This section of the conference tries to find the answer to all these simple, yet puzzling questions that touch all the intricacies, contradictions and mysteries of life. The panel intends to be a celebration of the human experience, with its complexities, thrills and wonders. We welcome submissions that explore different aspects of this topic from various academic fields: literature, religion, culture, arts, psychology, pedagogy, etc. The themes for the session include, but are not limited to the following suggestions:<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The human condition: destiny, free will, the meaning of life, life as a journey, the human nature, etc.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Self-discovery: identity and difference, belonging, language, memory, collective identity, etc.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Individual and collective experiences: growth, finding one\u2019s own place, a new beginning, marriage, motherhood, change, adaptation, inner struggle, pain, loss, community life, human relations, etc.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Complex emotions: love, passion, joy, happiness, awe, sadness, loneliness, jealousy, guilt, despair, etc.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Human motivation and behaviour: ideals, beliefs, mindsets, manners, practices, ways of behaving;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The role of education or storytelling in shaping the human experience\/ the human nature;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Experiencing different realities: religious, utopian, dystopian, fantastic, mythical imaginaries and dreams.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-very-light-gray-background-color has-background wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Email: <a href=\"mailto:sic.section6@gmail.com\">sic.section6@gmail.com<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading has-small-font-size\">SECTION 7: MIGRATION, DIASPORA(S), AND REFUGEES (ONLINE)<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Migration, either in theory or in practice, and its sub-fields, diasporas and refugees, remains one of the most urgent fields of contemporary scholarship. In 2020, according to the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/worldmigrationreport.iom.int\/wmr-2022-interactive\/\">International Organization for Migration<\/a>, the number of migrants reached 280 million people, representing 3.60% of the world population and figures are on the rise. The first half of this decade has brought an avalanche of global events and geopolitical conflicts that have transformed our world. First, the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted mobility on a scale not seen in generations: borders closed overnight, migrant workers lost livelihoods, asylum procedures suspended, and vulnerable populations in transit were left in a legal and humanitarian grey zone. Soon after, the Russian invasion of Ukraine triggered the largest refugee displacement in Europe since World War II. Then, an ongoing wave of geopolitical turbulence followed: the return of the Trump administration in the United States has brought drastic changes to immigration enforcement, asylum policy, and international refugee resettlement, with consequences felt well beyond American borders. Contributions are invited from Economics, Political Science, Legal Studies, Sociology, Anthropology, Literary Studies, and Film and Media Studies, as well as any other relevant discipline.
